MONTECITO SHOP

The S/DOUBLE shop in Montecito has reopened after a little downtime when we sold all the boards at the holidays... I have made a bunch of new boards and put in a rack to show a few other things we I am doing... The hours right now are thursday, friday and saturday 2 to 6pm... The next day we are going to be there is next thursday MAY 30th and try to sustain that through the summer... That's until the surf hits, and then all bets are off on the hours... Also, up on the walls in the Hallway Gallery are some killer photos by WILL ADLER that you should check out, very cool... Have a great Memorial Day weekend and get ready for summer...

This shot is of two really special friends... OLE was my 9th grade woodshop teacher, then my boss for a few years while I shaped at his shop in Sunset Beach, Calif... He taught me the whole surfboard thing when I was young and impressionable, I learned a ton... A few years later I met JEFF TIMPONE through the board building community and surfing around town... Jeff and I worked at the Brotherhood together all through the seventies... We both left and went out on our own when it was all uncharted territory...OLE and JT now live on Maui and both are still building beautiful boards... I miss seeing these old buddies, gotta get to Maui for a beer or two...

The original OG of Santa Barbara surfing culture, Mr. Renny Yater is responsible for so much of what was to come... From the way I hear it, he shaped the very first Clark foam blank that Grubby turned out, with Hobie looking over his shoulder, made the gold standard of long boards with the spoon, and was instrumental in developing the modern mini gun with Rincon as the test track... Solid shit for any pioneer to claim... I just want to send out a heartfelt aloha after hearing the news of his famiy's

loss...

The S/DOUBLE shop in Montecito reopens saturday May 18th with new boards and stuff for sale. Will Adler will be showing his work in the Hallway Gallery in the back of Richies Barbershop for a month or so... Stop in and check out what we got going on.

Working on an amazing jacket with my buddies up above Whistler in Pemberton, Tom and Sanna... They have an amazing development center up in the woods where they design and develop the killer winter gear... I am honored that they are considering and working on this project with the S/DOUBLE design shop... I am crossing my fingers and hoping this jacket will see the light of day?...

The S/DOUBLE TOKYO store has reached its first birthday... I want to thank everyone who turned out to support and all those who have helped get us through the first year of what I hope are many... So to you all I give one big shout... Thank you very much...
